about our competitive company
The Young Artist Space Company is home to some of Birmingham’s most highly trained and accomplished dancers. This elite group includes Dancer of the Year titleholders and multiple Dancer of the Year nominees, representing the highest level of talent, discipline, and artistry within our studio.
Company members train multiple days each week, dedicating countless hours both in and out of the studio to refine their craft. They lead by example—embodying integrity, passion, and teamwork—and serve as ambassadors for YAS and the greater dance community.
Our Company competes at many of the nation’s most prestigious competitions and conventions, including DanceOne Events, Hollywood Vibe, and Revel, among others. Several of our dancers also make their mark on the national stage, consistently earning recognition for their technical excellence and performance quality.
Last season, YAS made an unforgettable debut at the In10sity Dance Competition Birmingham Regional Tour Stop. We entered three soloists into the Regional Con10der Title Competition—and all three won the title in their respective divisions: Junior, Teen, and Senior. This outstanding achievement meant that YAS represented three of the four total Regional Con10der Titles awarded at the Birmingham event—an extraordinary accomplishment for a brand-new studio.
We are endlessly proud of our Company dancers—their work ethic, artistry, and dedication to growth both as performers and as individuals. Many aspire to pursue professional dance careers, and their commitment to continual improvement is nothing short of inspiring.

Lona Garrison - Dancer of the Year
Lona was selected as our 2025/2026 Young Artist Space Dancer of the Year after being voted on by both her peers and instructors — a true reflection of the respect and admiration she’s earned within our community.
Lona was chosen for this honor because of her unwavering positivity, dedication, and ability to make every dancer feel seen, valued, and encouraged. Her work ethic is second to none; she never misses class and approaches every challenge with grace and determination.
A senior-level dancer who has been with YAS since the very beginning, Lona has trained under Alli Neeley for many years, even prior to the studio’s opening. She is the light of every room she enters and is full of kindness, leadership, and genuine joy.
We are endlessly proud of Lona and all she represents. Her future is as bright as her energy, and we cannot wait to watch her continue to shine both on and off the stage this season!
