who we are. what we believe.

our mission statement:

WE BELIEVE:

That dance is the most powerful form of communication.

That every student has a voice and a story to tell — and that it is our job to empower them to discover that voice and express it, unapologetically, through movement.

In creating a safe, inspiring space where dancers can explore, express, and create confidently — without fear of rejection

In nurturing both the dancer and the individual — strengthening the body, challenging the mind, and building resilience of spirit.

That hard work, dedication, and discipline can — and should — exist alongside joy, passion, and creativity.

In sparking a lifelong love of dance from the earliest ages, and in training with intention, purpose, and heart.

In meeting dancers where they are, honoring their individual journeys, and guiding them toward their personal goals.

In developing dancers as people first — strong, kind, empowered individuals who know who they are and what they stand for.

In teaching our dancers to reach back and lift others as they rise.

In building performers, choreographers, artists, storytellers, and world-changers.

IN DOING THINGS DIFFERENT.

And, most importantly, we believe in helping every dancer find, love, and embrace the artist within themselves!

OUR APPROACH:

Purposeful Training. Powerful Results.

Purposeful Training. Powerful Results.

Purposeful Training. Powerful Results.

At Young Artist Space, we don’t just teach steps — we develop artists. Our method is rooted in an industry-based approach that prepares dancers for success on and off the stage. We combine high-level technical training with intentional mentorship, individualized coaching, and real-world insight into the professional dance world.

We train with purpose — blending discipline, creativity, and heart in every class. From our tiniest movers to our pre-professionals, we foster a culture of curiosity, hard work, and self-expression. Our curriculum is designed to challenge, support, and inspire — helping dancers refine their craft, find their voice, and evolve as artists and human beings.

why this approach works:

Purposeful Training. Powerful Results.

Mind–Body Connection

By acknowledging that a dancer’s mental state influences their physical performance, we strive to create a balance between artistry and well-being—ensuring that our dancers reach their highest potential. By encouraging students to nurture their physical, mental, and emotional health, we prepare them for both the challenges of the dance world and life beyond it.

Community & Collaboration

We emphasize collaboration and community, reducing isolation and unhealthy competition. While we are, of course, competitive, our dancers are taught that we are all part of a larger artistic family—and that our presence, contribution, and character within that community will take us farther than jealousy, rivalry, or bitterness ever could. The dancers we compete against today are often the ones our students will work alongside tomorrow, so we intentionally foster friendships and mutual respect rather than hostility or mean-spiritedness.

On-Going Support

Our teachers and staff are committed to providing on-going support to all dancers who choose to dance at YAS. They provide personalized guidance in career planning, artistic development, and overall well-being.

Our exceptional training, combined with the nurturing environment we have created, our dancers leave YAS ready to thrive—both on and off the stage.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

COMMUNITY:

At our studio, we foster a welcoming and supportive environment where staff, families, and dancers are committed to healthy growth and positive, uplifting experiences. We expect everyone—staff, dancers, and families—to actively contribute to this atmosphere, and we will not accept anything less.

Dance is an artform, and everyone in our studio is treated as an artist. While we hope to inspire some toward a professional career, we also love to train those who just enjoy dance. Our studio is one family, united by a shared love for artistic expression through dance.

We foster an environment of kindness, respect, and accountability. Our dancers are taught to respect, support, and cheer for one another while maintaining a healthy sense of competitive spirit. We cultivate leadership, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the art of dance. Dancers are taught—and expected—to lift others as they rise.

industry-based training

Our program mirrors the professional dance world, preparing dancers for successful careers in the industry. We offer the following to all of our students:

Elite Training: We focus on technical excellence and industry-style preparation through quick combos, mock auditions, self-promotion, and networking opportunities. Training in this way gives dancers a competitive edge in auditions, on school teams, and beyond.

Performance Experience: Dancers regularly perform for their peers and instructors in small groups, building the confidence they need to thrive under stage pressure.

Professionalism: Students develop discipline, punctuality, and teamwork—skills that prepare them to work effectively with directors, choreographers, and fellow performers.

Industry Relevance: We stay current with evolving dance styles, technology, and choreography trends to keep our dancers adaptable and marketable.

individualized coaching

At Young Artist Space, we recognize that no two dancers are the same. Our training is tailored to each student’s unique strengths, goals, and areas for growth. We provide personal feedback, mentorship, and individualized development plans for every dancer.

While we do have “levels,” placement is based on mastered skills, with age serving only as a general guideline. This means you may see a variety of ages within each class, and many dancers may train in multiple levels across different styles or techniques. We believe this approach allows dancers to progress efficiently while ensuring they fully master each skill set and genre along the way.

hollistic development

At YAS, we emphasize the Mind–Body Connection, teaching dancers how their mental state directly impacts performance.

We incorporate mindfulness, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques to enhance focus, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

We build Mental Resilience through visualization, self-compassion, and goal setting—helping dancers manage stress, pressure, and competition with confidence.

We encourage Emotional Expression & Creativity, creating a safe space where dancers can share their stories through movement.

We focus on Stress Management by teaching relaxation strategies, time management, and the importance of open communication. Through small groups, class time, and individual meetings, we help dancers prevent burnout and maintain balance in their training.

We also offer our Competition Tech class, which focuses specifically on mental health and resilience—integrating these practices into daily training.

purpose driven classes

At Young Artist Space, we offer a wide variety of dance genres designed to inspire creativity, versatility, and growth. Our classes rotate weekly to expose dancers to multiple styles, keeping training fresh, challenging, and engaging. Each class is built on clear goals, structure, and intention—balancing discipline and technique with creativity and joy.

Class placement is based on technical skill rather than age, allowing every dancer to progress at their own pace while fostering friendships across age groups. Our dedicated staff provides individualized feedback and mentorship to support each dancer’s personal goals.

We offer programs for every dancer — from our youngest artists in the Tiny Twirlers program to our advanced performers in the Competitive Company. For those interested in exploring dance beyond performance, we also provide a Choreography Program that nurtures creativity and develops the art of storytelling through movement.

OPPORTUNITIES:

MASTER CLASSES & GUEST SPEAKERS

We bring in industry professionals throughout the year for guest lectures, master classes, and intensives—open to all students in our program, not just those in our Competitive Company.

CONVENTIONS

All students are invited to join our Competitive Company at conventions to expand their training, build industry connections, and experience the excitement of the competitive program. Dancers may also purchase team swag to represent our studio while attending, if they choose.

OUTSIDE TRAINING

We actively support and encourage students to pursue additional training opportunities beyond our studio. Competitive team members are expected to participate in outside training, including master classes at other studios. We believe that extra training builds stronger, more well-rounded dancers, and we continuously seek out new opportunities to support their growth.

COMMUNICATION:

We maintain open communication with parents and students, providing regular evaluations to track progress and guide growth.

Each student receives clear goals and actionable steps for advancement, along with frequent assessments to ensure proper class placement and optimal development.
