Alli's dance journey began at the age of two & evolved into a competitive pursuit by eight. She has had extensive training in all styles of dance, but takes a special interest in jazz & contemporary styles. She earned her bachelor's degree in dance from the University of Alabama, gaining recognition by being accepted into the esteemed Alabama Repertory Dance Theater. Alli is also a judge & convention teacher for DTI dance competitions.
Choreography has always been Alli's passion, evidenced by having been asked to choreograph multiple dances for the University of Alabama's Dance Alabama & Dance Collection shows. With over 25 choreography awards, including winning a choreography award at the national level, her talent has consistently elevated dances to receiving top honors & grand champion titels. Notably, she has trained Dancers of the Year winners as well as Dancer of the Year nominees. She spent 7 years as the artistic director at a local dance studio, before deciding to leave & venture out on her own.
Now, alongside Shena, Alli is fulfilling her lifelong dream of owning her own dance studio, in the creation of Young Artists Space. Her vision goes beyond technical prowess, emphasizing the holistic development of dancers, nurturing their drive & well-being both on & off the dance floor. Alli brings a wealth of expertise to her studio, aiming to inspire the future generation to find the artistry within themselves!
Shena, the Co-Owner & Company Director of YAS, holds a master's degree in secondary language arts from UAB. She has four years experience in teaching middle school aged kids, where she also coached the cheerleading & dance team.
Previously, Shena owned & operated Gameday Girl Stuff & Shena B Clothing, focusing on design, patterns, & sales production before closing the businesses in 2019 to prioritize family time.
Driven by her lifelong passion for dance, Shena transitioned from being a dedicated dance mom to partnering with Alli to establish their own distinctive dance studio. She is committed to making the dance world a better & happier place & seeks to grow lasting & meaningful relationships with all of our dancers & their families.
Allana has a lifelong love of dance that began when she was three years old. She has studied in multiple styles of dance, however, her primary focus & passion is in ballet. Allana attended the Alabama School of Fine Arts, where she trained under Sonia Arova, Therese Laeger, & Thor Sutowski. This afforded her the opportunity to perform & tour with the Alabama Ballet. She continued her education at the University of Southern Mississippi & Florida International University in Miami on scholarship, where she studied ballet, modern & jazz. While at Southern Miss, she was the Co-Captain of the Dixie Darlings Dance Team & the Southern Misses Dance Team. Later, she had the privilege of studying under Mrs. Barbara Baker, founder & Director of the Briarwood Ballet. She has been blessed to teach & choreograph dance for the past twenty years. She also had the privilege of studying under Mrs. Barbara Barker, founder & Director of the Briarwood Ballet.
Allana has coached four high school dance teams & was a member of the Universal Cheerleading Association Staff. She completed the Revolutionary Principles of Movement course to enhance & expand her ballet teaching expertise. She is looking forward to sharing her passion for ballet with the dancers at Young Artist Space.
Sarah is a passionate dance instructor who has devoted over a decade of her life to nurturing the talents of students, aged 3 to 20. She began her dance career at Briarwood Ballet's Pre-Professional Company. As a professional dancer with Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet, Hosanna Sacred Arts, & Arova Contemporary Ballet, she showcased her talent nationwide & internationally with performances in Times Square, Alvin Ailey Studios, China & Cuba.
Driven by a commitment to excellence in dance education, she has pursued additional training in the Revolutionary Principles of Movement & Scott Functional Anatomy. Her teaching focuses on technique, artistic expression, & a deep understanding of the body, which she gained from working in a dance-specific physical therapy clinic. She encourages dancers to embrace both technical mastery & the joy of dance while fostering resilience & holistic well-being in her classroom. Sarah considers it a privilege to shape more connected artists who find fulfillment in their craft.
Alexa-Grace's desire to study dance has been a life-long journey. Her mom, who is also a dance instructor, instilled a love for dance in her from a very young age & encouraged her to pursue her dreams to perform. She has extensive training in ballet, jazz, tap, theatre jazz, & contemporary, including dancing for 11 years with the Briarwood Ballet. Alexa has a rich background in musical theatre, having performed in over 12 productions & having choreographed 7.
Alexa was Co-Captain of the Lionettes Dance Team at Briarwood Christian High School, & Dance Captain of the show choir, where she showcased her leadership & performance abilities. She later began teaching dance team prep classes & ballet classes. Alexa teaches dancers to hone their skills while also instilling positivity & fostering a love of dance. While working for Summer Show Offs, she had the opportunity to cultivate kindness within the classroom & encourage campers to have confidence on stage.
While currently pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre at the University of Alabama, Alexa-Grace studies various forms of dance, acting, & singing techniques. This summer, she will have the opportunity to perform in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with the Virginia Samford Theatre, she will intern with The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, & attend the Gus Giordano Jazz Intensive in Chicago.
Hannah's lifelong love of dance has shaped her into a versatile performer who brings a wealth of knowledge to our studio. She has trained in ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, clogging, tap, & acrobatics. Her passion for dance has not only earned her numerous awards in competitions throughout her career, but also inspired her to teach and mentor young dancers since the age of 15. Venturing into choreography, she has crafted both group & solo performances that have received many awards. Hannah's unwavering dedication & commitment make her a cherished figure at our studio. She enriches our dance community with her talent & enthusiasm, & we are blessed to have her as a member of our staff.
Hannah Hall is a choreographer, teacher, performer, and arts administrator from Birmingham, AL. Hannah holds a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Management, Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from The University of Alabama. During her time at UA, she worked as the Business and Operations Manager for the Department of Theatre and Dance while performing and choreographing for several of their shows. Additionally she led weekly dance classes on UA’s campus for students with cerebral palsy. Hannah has been an apprentice for Tap Into the Network traveling to assist tap dance classes and a performer in the World Games 2022 with Sanspointe Dance Company.
